Keegan Zelko is a young fiddler from Francestown, NH. He’s been a student of Rodney Miller for several years, and it sure shows! Not only is he a highly competent player, but if you’re familiar with Rodney’s playing, you can hear hints of it in Keegan’s.

We actually haven’t had the chance to play together a lot, but I welcome any opportunity, and we actually did get to provide some pre-meeting music for the Governor’s Executive Council Meeting in Peterborough a while back.

Keegan recently asked me to do some recording with him which he could use as part of his college applications. We were able to meet up in Bass Hall at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture in Peterborough, which was big enough that we could distance, and I could use the amazing Steinway there. The hall being empty, there is a bit of resonance from the piano which, in a studio situation, would have been backed off a bit. Still, the tunes are rendered well and have spirit.

I look forward to playing with Keegan some more when things open up again.
